Not Shocking News: There’s A Ferrari SUV On The Way – Took ‘Em Long Enough!

(By Tom Lohnes) – Well it’s official, Ferrari is making an SUV.
Spotted in the Italian alps, the Ferrari SUV supposedly called the Purosangue, looks to be a sleek competitor to Lamborghini’s Urus. The exterior is very camouflaged, so it is hard to figure looks out, but judging by the gaping grille, think Maserati Levante. Inside, Ferrari will use the Roma as a base, with screens replacing literally every control in the interior, save for the shifter. Power is most likely coming from a 3.9-liter Twin-Turbo V8 that currently makes anywhere from 590 to 780 horsepower in the Ferrari lineup, so expect there to be different versions with different amounts of power. What does this heavy SUV do to the brand’s reputation?
Well, Ferrari is trying to tap into the same niche Porsche broke open and every other exotics car maker is exploiting: People who want a Ferrari but don’t actually want a Ferrari. So, while we still lust after the F8 tributo and the SF90 Stradale, the Purosangue will be quietly existing in the background while simultaneously being the brand’s bestseller.
So, if the extremely Audi-based Lamborghini Urus isn’t Italian enough for you, the Ferrari Purosangue will gladly take your garage space. This will slot below the Portofino convertible as the new entry-level Ferrari and will start around $190,000.
