Sackey & Co. | Online Supercar Auctions is proud to present this ultra rare, iconic 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400S Series 1 ‘Lowbody’ chassis no. 1121046 and production number 23, finished in a 1-of-1 factory livery for a Series 1 of Nero over Bianco.

The ‘LP400S Series 1’ Countach was the first variant to wear the iconic fender flares, strikingly wide Pirelli P7 tires, and rose-jointed parallel links suspension that the Countach would become known for, a result of the collaboration between Gianpaolo Dallara and Formula 1 team owner Walter Wolf who wished to bring F1 wheel & suspension technology to the Countach. Walter Wolf has been quoted saying he was inspired to have Dallara create his dream Countach simply by looking at the back of his team’s Formula 1 racing car. Thanks to his vision, Automobili Lamborghini SpA adopted the design into the series of Countach seen here.

Production of the ‘Series 1’ variant totaled only 50 units, making this the rarest Countach variant of all, and for some the absolute ultimate Countach. Produced in the days of the ongoing OPEC oil crisis, each S1 was hand-built and had to be paid for in cash before factory Sales Director Ubaldo Sgarzi would release it. The example seen here is not only a Series 1 in a 1-of-1 livery for that variant, but one of the 27 sought-after Series 1s appointed with the highly-desirable Stewart Warner gauges, as used in the earlier LP400 cars. LP400S Series 1 cars were the only Countach to be fitted with the legendary sand-cast magnesium Campagnolo ‘Bravo’ wheels, and this example also featured the desirable Ansa F1 sport exhaust option from new.

1121046 was completed by Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese on April 26th, 1979, then delivered to Achilli Motors in Milan, Italy. It remained in Italy until circa 1996, when it was imported into France. The French owner, a Mr. Soret, first registered it there on March 21st, 1996. 1121046 was later purchased by the current owner, a doctor and Lamborghini enthusiast, and brought to the United States in August 2010. This Countach S has been meticulously maintained by the current owner for the past 12 years, with approximately $138,000 spent in the time he’s owned the car. Believed to maintain a mere 3-owner history, this mechanically excellent car still retains its original bodywork and is thought to retain much or all of its original paintwork. It currently displays just 28,421 KM (17,660 miles) from new.

The Countach LP400S Series 1 is the stuff of dreams for in-the-know Countach aficionados, and few examples can claim this combination of mechanical excellence and rare specification. Visit SackeyandCo.com to submit your bid today!
