Hello,
I have a 2022 BMW X5 40i M Sport that needs the spoiler replacement due to vandalism/theft. I filed a claim with insurance and got a police report. I asked chat GPT and it said $800-$1200. I took it to a shop that my dealership works with and I got quoted $4000. They are one of the only BMW certified shops in my area and only use OEM parts. The part only costs $500 + labor. People on Bimmer Post say they install the part in 30 minutes. Quote says:
Parts $530.01
Body labor 13.5 hours $76 /hr = $1026
Paint Labor 9.7 hours $76 / hr =$737.20
Mechanical Labor 4 hours $235 /hr $940.00
Paint supplies 9.7 hours $50 /hr =$485.00
Body Supplies 17.5 hours $8 /hr =$140.00
Miscellaneous $10
Subtotal $3,868.21
Tax 93.20
Total = $3,961.41
Customer Pay $0
Insurance pay $3961.41
But it says 0 days to repair
(I have $500 deductible)
Part number is 51-62-9-481-033
Do these numbers make sense to you?
I want it done right and OEM parts but this seems very high. I dont want to pay anymore than my deductible ($500), and this estimate says its preliminary and actual cost will most likely increase.
Should I just buy the part and do it myself?
