Back in October 2020, VW’s ID.3—the first EV built on the brand’s MEB architecture—earned itself a five-star rating from Euro NCAP. The car was praised for its robust structural integrity and liberal inclusion of sensor-enabled advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including automatic emergency braking (AEB), an advanced e-call system, and ‘Multi-Collision Braking’: a technology which applies brakes after a collision to prevent further impacts. Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP’s Secretary General, said that “Euro NCAP will continue to ensure that saving the planet does not come at the cost of safety, and I am glad to see that the ID.3… does not compromise in this regard.”…
