Jeep Compass facelift: exterior and interior changes

Changes to the Compass’ exterior are minimal. They include revised, slimmer headlights with integrated LED DRLs, an updated version of Jeep’s seven-slat front grille, a tweaked front bumper with a larger air dam, and new fog light housings and alloy wheels.

Inside, the Compass facelift gets a completely revamped dashboard, with a new floating 10.1-inch touchscreen placed in the centre. Below the screen are the new, slim AC vents and HVAC controls. The facelift also gets double-stitched leather inserts on the dashboard, a new three-spoke steering wheel and a full, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Jeep Compass facelift: features and equipment

The top-spec Model S variant is equipped with a 10.1-touchscreen that gets FCA’s UConnect 5 infotainment system, integrated Amazon Alexa support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The infotainment system can also receive over-the-air (OTA) updates. The Compass facelift also features LED headlights, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 360-degree parking camera, leather upholstery, powered tailgate, 8-way electrically-adjustable front seats with ventilation, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Safety features on the Compass Model S trim include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, ESC, hill-start assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and parking sensors.

Jeep Compass facelift: engine and powertrain options

The Jeep Compass facelift is powered by a 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine and a 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, same as the outgoing model. Both engines come with six-speed manuals as standard, with the petrol getting the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and the diesel getting a nine-speed torque converter auto option. The Compass facelift diesel meanwhile, is available with a four-wheel drive system with surface-specific drive modes.

Jeep Compass facelift: competition check

The Jeep Compass facelift rivals the likes of the Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Hyundai Tucson. Just like the pre-facelift model, the Compass facelift will also get the off-road focused Trailhawk variant at a later stage.

Jeep India line-up: What else is on the cards?

Jeep is developing a new seven-seat SUV that will share its platform and powertrain with the Compass, but will be positioned to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The seven-seat Jeep SUV is slated to launch sometime in 2022.

Apart from the seven-seater, Jeep has also announced plans to locally assemble the Wrangler and the next-gen Grand Cherokee. The manufacturer is also working on a sub-4m compact SUV for India.
